Review: 2018 Honda Ridgeline

The Ridgeline is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission, with standard front-wheel drive and available all-wheel drive. It features a unibody design for a rigid, lightweight structure and multi-link rear suspension that lets it handles any terrain with ease. Plus, all models feature a spacious cargo bed with eight 350-pound tie-down cleats to secure recreational or professional equipment.

AWD models come with an intelligent Variable Torque Management system that optimizes power between wheels and delivers and improves stability, while the Intelligent Traction Management system lets you select a mode according to your driving conditions for just the right amount of power output. Base models can tow up to 3,500 pounds, while AWD models can tow up to 5,000 pounds.

Comfort and Convenience

The 2018 Ridgeline comes in six trims: RT, Sport, RTL, RTL-T, RTL-E, and Black Edition. The Ridgeline RT comes standard with unique features that make it the perfect recreation truck, including a dual-action tailgate, In-Bed Trunk (bonus: the built-in drain makes this the perfect mobile cooler), and truck-bed lighting. Additionally, all models come standard with a multi-angle rearview camera with guidelines, integrated trailer hitch, push-button start, and capless fuel filler. The RTL-E trim and Black Edition feature a Truck-Bed Audio System for the ultimate tailgating experience.

If you're looking for a little more luxe in your Ridgeline, you also have the option for a one-touch power moonroof, remote engine start, three-zone climate control, HomeLink remote system, heated side mirrors, leather seating, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and blue LED ambient lighting.

Safety and Tech

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gave the 2018 Ridgeline a best-possible 5-Star Overall Rating*. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has not yet rated the 2018 model, but the organization named the 2017 model a 2017 Top Safety Pick+. The 2018 Ridgeline comes available with Collision Mitigation Braking, Lane Keeping Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic High-Beam Headlights, Road Departure Mitigation, and the advanced Honda LaneWatch blind spot information system.
